This book has been amazing for our family. When we’re all feeling off, we break this guy out and find a game to play. It’s so much more than just playing games, its building connections with them! If you are feeling disconnected or discouraged, this book helps! I recommend it to anyone who has an ear to hear about it.

This book is incredibly helpful for everyone. Literally everyone could find good use reading and applying techniques with every day communication. I’ve found that play therapy helps me to be more patient and empathetic with my son and allows him the freedom to be playful and express his emotions in a healthy manner. I’ve used some techniques with my boyfriend unbeknownst to him and that’s strengthen our relationship. I’ve also used the information I have learned in my work and I have been able to distinguish why people behave certain ways and how I can react to help them modify and realize their insolent and erratic outbursts. It’s so true that everyone needs play to grow and I strongly believe in the benefits this book can yield for everyone of all ages!!

This is a high quality book in presentation and content. It affirms the value of play in a child's development, healing and relationship bonding. It is both grass roots applicable and profoundly professional. It simply proves that less can really be more in being a caring presence with a child through play. I appreciate all of the play activities as a children's grief specialist and as a grandma.

I received this item as a gift, and with mental health being very fragile during this pandemic, for parents and children this book gave me ease, fun, and helped me out a lot to help me and my kids going stir crazy in the house this year. Get it if you're becoming lost within yourself and feeling the mom/dad guilt.

I like the list of comprehensive materials at the beginning. Sadly it's not comprehensive. There are other thing mentioned for use in some of the activities. The worst in my opinion is the glitter. It's terrible for the environment, and I have seen children get their eyes scratched by glitter, so have never allowed it in my house. Yes, I know there are alternatives, but most cost effective ones will dissolve in water/glue and therefor wouldn't work here.

Most of these activities are simple, easy and don't take a lot of time or preparation. But some of them are just too similar to be considered a separate activity. So I personally don't think you're getting 101 out of this.

The age range of 3-9 seems accurate, but I believe many of these could be used for kids even older. Especially kids with anxiety that impacts their quality of life.

The table of contents breaks things out into easy to choose types of activities, so if you're having a particular problem, it's easy to skip right to what will likely work best.

The resources, references & index in the back are all helpful guides to finding more information or directing you in the right directions for it.

2 of my children had a play therapist for speech, and motor skills issues when they were under 4. I think this is a good book to help continue to build on that as they get older.

While I did have some issues with this book, and was dismayed that some of the activities are easily found online, this is a good place to start when you need to tackle your whole relationship with your child. As it gives more than just the activities that work, but why they work and where you can go from there to continue strengthening your relationship with your child.

I wasn't super "wowed" by this book, but I still think it's a nice reference for ideas on playing together. We already do some of the suggested activities, but I found some of the activities to be great ideas, especially while we are currently in Kindergarten distance learning. I like how the book is laid out almost like a cookbook. There are step-by-step instructions for each activity and the book offers tips and suggestions to make the activity more engaging. It also mentions ideas for things to say that accompany the activities. I especially like the "Invisible Hurt" idea to help kids open up about their feelings.
