   The book is right to the point and explains from a scientific point of view what’s happening in your child to display what we see. My son like the oddest sounds but immediately after reading this book I was able to understand why and more importantly how to support him. The activities are not a one size fits all so you have to pick and choose. As a mom that does her research this book was quick and to the point. It explained sensory processing in a manner that was very easy to comprehend.

   Dr. Gibbs presented to our special education cooperative and was thoroughly knowledgeable about the subject matter or self regulation. There are so many easy and practical ideas for use in the classroom or in individual session in this book. I work with children with autism, down syndrome and other cognitive challenges. I am always looking for new and practical ideas. The activities take minimal to no prep time and can be adapted for various levels of understanding.

   Oh my God! this book was so amazing a friend of mine grandson has autism and she's been keeping up with this author for some time she is just so happy he's putting up books to help others with kids with this type of illness to become successful one day and also that the parents get a better understanding to having your children. Though I no longer have little kids I found it so interesting to read it makes me want to go out and help other mothers or take you this booked two others to understand.

   I'm an pediatric Occupational Therapist and these are techniques that I use with the kiddos I work with! It's written by an OT who's presented nationally about these effective evidence based strategies. This is the only book that I know of that clearly explains from a neurological/primitive reflex perspective why some of our kiddos have melt downs. Usually it’s because their flight/fight system is being turned on by something they perceive inaccurately in their environment. So you’ll see kids who are constantly in a state of reflexively responding (looks like tantrums or meltdowns). They are constantly triggered by their environment in some way, and a lot of times transitions between one place to another (e.g. car to store, house to school, etc) triggers anxiety and over-reactions because of fear of being exposed to an “assaultive” environment. So this book provides ways to help slow the brain down so it has time to accurately process the environment, as well as accurate assess own body vitals, in order to make an appropriate response. This book offers practical activities to do and teach your child strategies to eventually internalize these tools. I highly recommend this book for any kid who tantrums, has melt downs, or is perceived as stubborn or anxious.
