Bought for a teen I know, she loved it! Gave her some answers she was pleased to get. She loved the book and the ability to interact with it by making notes as she read and reflected.
I recommended it to other ASC teens who were pleased to know about it and went out and bought along with a couple of parents too. 100% recommend this book!

I have bought so many books on autism and had to sadly return most. If you want a feel good and supportive book on autism for your autistic child, please buy this one. My 10 year old son can relate to everything written probably cause the authors are themselves autistic. It goes through the positives and challenges in a very matter of fact, truthful way. There is excellent advice on every aspect. I finally found the book I have been searching for. I wish the authors would write one more that my son could share with his friends, which would help them understand him better.

I mostly love this book. It has an incredibly positive and upbeat approach to autism and the fact it’s written by someone who is autistic gives it a credibility not all books aimed at autistic children might have. It has made me feel so empowered to support my 10 year old son in the understanding his autistic identity. I’m really looking forward to exploring it with him - it is mostly a fantastic book.

However, I dislike intensely the section on gender and transgender identities.

The idea of gender is so regressive and basic - the idea that if my son likes things that are ‘female’ (really - what is that? Pink? Chocolate? Shoes?) this might make him trans is so dangerous. These sexist, regressive ideas about gender are not what we should be pushing on our young people - especially autistic young people. I want him to know that he is perfect and that nothing about him is a mistake.

Happily the section on gender was easy to rip out. I did have to sacrifice a few pages on friendships but that was a price worth paying.

If teens or young people need books or literature to help them explore gender dysphoria, I have no problem with that. But personally I will not expose my 10 year old to dangerous, misogynistic ideas about gender.

This book would be useful for teenagers and adults with Asperger syndrome or high functioning ASD. It describes situations from the author’s point of view, so they come from a personal experience. I enjoyed it, but for my son who is 10 with Asperger’s it’s hard, as he can’t put himself into other’s shoes.

So far one of the best go to guides for my two aspie (ASD) girls who are now tweens. Other books helps when they were younger but as my eldest turns 11 and is really noticing a lot of differences within herself, this book has been a life saver. Slowly we’ve been going though so many pages that a time - and the fact it is written by two people with ASD as well has helped her start to gain her independence and self worth slowly back again. We all know it’s a slow process but This book is actually helping so thank you!

Absolutely fantastic book, would recommend it to any autistic kid to read (and for their grownups to read too!) It talks about autism and neurodiversity in a really positive way, whilst also addressing the challenges. A refreshing change from a lot of the negativity seen in other books and media, and is, importantly, written by autistic authors.

This is a great book for young,autistic, people. My 10 year old son and I are reading it together,and he's really enjoying it. We love that this book is very relatable and so positive about autism. The language is very easy to understand and it's perfect for older kids/teens. I like that there's discussion sections in this book as well,and my son often interjects his thoughts or questions. Good job on this book! (I'm a real customer and bought this book on my own as I have a 10 year old,autistic, son).
