AutPlay Therapy is a behavioral play-based treatment approach to working with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disabilities.     Autplay Therapy is a wonderful behavioral play-based approach to working with children with ASD and other developmental disabilities. This book outlines approaches and techniques and interventions for therapists. This book gives options for therapy with social skills training, connections and emotional regulation. This book is a mainstay and one of the best books I have found in working with ASD and other clients with developmental disabilities.

    From the outset the book pulls one in with it's easily accessible format. Dr Grant sets the tone by detailing the various conditions that Autplay can support. Straight away as a Therapist, you are thinking of Client's you may have previously seen who could have benefitted; or future clients who can benefit.

    The book isn't overly wordy, so for those wanting to know who Autplay can help, what it is, how to do it and the benefits....all these questions and more are answered.

    I was one chapter into the book and booked onto a training course with Dr Grant as I was hooked and excited as I could see the vast potential of Autplay.

    As a Play Therapist, the interventions flow easily with the work I already do.

    For anyone wanting to know more, or be bitten by the Autplay bug (it's a good bug lol) go buy this....now!!!

    This is a great book for reading and understanding AutPlay Therapy. It provides valuable information (i.e., treatment outline, plans, assessments, interventions, etc.) to assist mental health professionals in their work with children and adolescents with autism and their families. I highly recommend this book along with attending and completing the AutPlay Therapy Certification Training. Dr. Grant is very knowledgeable about working with this population. This is definitely a must have book for the mental health professional's toolbox.

    I am a play therapist and will see kids who are autistic from time to time. This book walks you through the process of treatment. It gives guidelines on how to include the parents in therapy. It outlines goals for treatment and it provides hands on interventions to help achieve those goals. It also has a wonderful appendix with checklists that can help direct treatment goals as well. It is a great resource for therapists!
